NOMINATE LAND TO OUR ACQUISITION PROGRAM

Beginning June 1, 2024, the public may nominate neighborhood land for consideration in our conservation acquisition program. We accept land donation inquiries through this program as well as nomination of parcels that will require monetary purchase.

Please note: 

While every nomination is carefully evaluated, submission of a property does not guarantee its selection for conservation or acquisition. 

How the Process Works

Every nomination is carefully evaluated by our Land Management and Acquisition Committee using our established conservation priorities. Recommendations are then presented to our Board of Directors for consideration.

If the Board elects to pursue a property, the nominating party will be contacted to discuss the opportunity further. 

If a property is not selected, the nominating party will also be notified.

Parcels that are listed for sale historically have a higher chance to be acquired than those whose willing-seller status is unknown to us. In those cases, an outreach letter of inquiry must be sent, to which we may or not receive a response from the parcel owner. 

How Land Acquisitions Are Funded

Every property we protect is made possible through the generosity of private donors.

The Neighborhood Land Conservancy receives no city, county, state, or federal funding that can be used to purchase land. 

Each acquisition is funded through dedicated, parcel-specific fundraising. 

Because we have not yet established a large land acquisition reserve, we must raise the funds needed before completing each purchase.

For this reason:

                     We require a minimum of 30  days to conduct a fundraising campaign for an approved acquisition.

                                                               We generally focus on one land  acquisition campaign at a time to maximize its chance of success.                                              

                     The number of properties we can  permanently protect each year depends entirely on the financial support we receive.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, every land acquisition fundraising campaign we have launched has successfully reached its goal.
