Ways to Help Nature And Our Mission

2026 SPRING FUNDRAISER NATIVE PLANT SALE

We are now taking advance PRE-orders for nursery-grown native plants.

This is a fundraising event supported by a local nursery that wishes to remain anonymous at this time. The majority of the proceeds from each plant sale will go to our land acquisition fund.

You will receive an email/phone call with a time and location when your plants are mature and ready for pick up between

February  - April.

Checks can be made payable to The Environmental Conservancy of North Port, Inc. (our legal corporate name) and mailed to 3465 Alfred Road, North Port, FL 34286 with a printed order form or click the below link to provide your order and pay by credit/debit card and be sure to include your name, telephone number and email address so we can contact you.

Help Nature In Your Yard

In Your Yard

  • Plant local native plants and trees  (order from us (see above order form) or Florida Native Plants and Sweetbay are 2 native plant nurseries in Sarasota/Bradenton)
  • Create a no-mow zone in your lawn and let natives grow back naturally
  • Don't hurricane-cut your Sabal Palms
  • Reduce or eliminate night-time lighting to benefit moths, bats and other nocturnal insects/wildlife
  • Install nest boxes for birds
  • If building a home, keep existing native plants/trees in the rear 10% utility easement at the time of lot clearing
  • Remove invasives (such as Potato Vine, Caesar's weed, Brazilian pepper, Cogan Grass)
  • If you live in a Florida Scrub-jay zone, plant Scrub Oak trees
  • If you don't have a Live Oak tree in your yard already, plant one
  • If you must cut down a hazardous tree, leave the trunk at  a reasonable safe height and let it serve as a food and nesting source for birds and insects
  • Leave the leaves - don't rake your yard completely in the fall
